Illegal Coal Transportation

A Coal Truck had overturned at Upper Shillong area near 3rd Mile, East Khasi Hills District right in a busy road on the 28/10/2018 and I was informed the Police have seized the coal but the coal has not been shifted to the designated area where coal seized by the administration is to be dumped and auctioned off immediately. This coal truck must have been intending to travel through the Shillong city. It is also clear that coal trucks ply from Mawmaram Junction , East Khasi Hills District towards Umbir, on to the NHAI Road, Ri Bhoi District and down to Byrnihat where abandoned factories are being used as storage for the coal which is then taken from there to Assam. All this is done with knowledge of few Government servants posted in strategic posts to curb such violations, who betray the very interests of the State as a whole..
