People and Governance

In a Democracy, the people are the Government but many don't realize this and are scared instead when they hear the word Government. We elect 'Representative' to represent us in the Parliament, Legislative Assembly etc. These representatives should be able to Legislate laws for the people which should be equal to one and all. But we often notice that laws are being flouted by the very people who made the laws, that is the people who represent us and they disregard the laws laid down to the extent of harming their own people. We have together formed the Government, have the Constitution to guide us and everything should be within the framework of the Constitution and should be Right and not harmful to the people. Yet we see that everything is upside down. We have leaders who are corrupt and bring in Dictatorship. They bring in laws which are biased, helpful only to those in power, policies are made to alienate the people from their land and use their power again to break, divide, threaten the society and the people. Since we have the Constitution, any violations are expected to be heard finally in the Highest Courts that is the Supreme Court. The Courts are over burdened with cases and priorities again arise if you can influence the courts. Can the common man reach out? If we choose good, thoughtful, strong persons to represent the people that would bring in Good Governance.
